Mookie's Summer Camp Diary, Day, Um, I Forget Cause I'm a Dog
Dear Diary:
OMG, these last couple of days have been awesome! First, I almost caught a snake! A really big slitherly black one, and I could have caught it too except that Chris was all slow and connected to me via the leash. Lame. So I chased two deer after that and went wading. No more swimming for me yesterday or today - it's just plain too tiring, and there's SO much land to walk around on. Why bother trying to walk on a pond?
But let's see, one of Julie's friends Mabel came over and I'll admit, I had to show off a little cause I thought she was cute. First, I grabbed all the toys out of the basket and started destroying them in the kitchen. Cool, sure, but it's been done. So then I started running with them like a crazed moose outside, you know, to spark some curiosity... and then, when they came out to see where I was going - I hid! In the asparagus patch! And then pounced! So. Much. Fun!
Sometimes I even surprise myself.
But and so I've been doing some running, but not as much, these last couple days until yesterday when I had a split pad and Chris wouldn't take me hardly out of the yard. It doesn't hurt, I keep telling him, but he keeps trying to explain that pit bulls have an underdeveloped pain reflex. So (sigh), I've been home licking my feet while he goes running.
But there's a squirrel that lives in the backyard tree, and a couple neigborhood dogs I've met,and a softball that someone left down at the softball fields - who knew I could play fetch? - so I'm keeping busy. I've also learned that they keep all the food in the pantry, and if you follow them in, you can sorta block off the exit so they have to share something when they come back out. Unless they're getting something like olive oil or cayenne pepper, which they seem reluctant to
share for some reason.
Also: Min stopped by, with her man whose name I forget, which awesome. Min rocks. That was fun,if a little short, since they were sort of in between functions and had to get back. I think Iimpressed her with my collection of Things Distributed in the Yard, though...
Bikes... my old enemy... we keep meeting again... for the first time...
But anyway, say anyang to Korea for me, and write soon! Chris reads all your letters to me, even though I've assured him I can check email just fine on my own. He seems to think I'm as low-tech as Og for some reason, even though I'm Wan and Sangu's babycakes. Got me. But I like hearing them all the same. Much love, many kneecap licks, and come back safe! Without any liquids!
Love,
Mook E Ook
