Mookie's Summer Camp Diary, Day 3
Dear Diary:
I like deer but I am not sure why they have to be so... fast. That's three times now I went up and tried to meet one and she just took off into the woods. Next time.
I ran five miles today, which was nicer than yesterday when I ran eight. It was hot and there was this one big fly that kept landing on my butt. Annoying!
Oh yeah: swimming. I'm still totally unconvinced. I've been going every day, so that's like four times now, but it's really tiring. Why bother, when there's all that land to walk around on? Truly mystifying. And worse, the people I'm with seem to just... float. I don't get that either.
But things are good here, I hang out either on the couch or out on the lawn; yesterday I helped plant a bunch of lettuce and beets and radishes and this weekend I'm pretty sure Chris will need my help planting some spinach also. He's a little slow - he keeps trying to put the seeds in the dirt in little rows, one at a time, when really it's a lot faster if you just dump the seed packet into a big pile in the garden. I tried to show him how to do it, but he doesn't seem to learn very
quickly.
Also: this house, though nice, is a little odd in that it has a door buzzer stuck to the refrigerator. Who's coming out of the fridge? Confusing. More on that later.
Ugh. They keep making up songs about me. One particularly awful one was set to "Allouette" and pretty much went "Mookie mookie mookie mookie mookie, MOOOOkie mookie mookie mook mook mook." Repeat that like twenty times and you get the idea. Sigh.
But anyway, have fun in the city, we are off to find some squirrels at the baseball fields.
Love,
The Very Reverend Moo Cow, Esq, M.D., J.D., Ph.D.
